I worshipped Buck Owens when I was a kid. I kept it hid well but in my mini country music mania when I was 8 or so I was Buck Owens crazy. When Hee Haw hit hard I dug him even more, Roy Clark did nothing but detract from the Buckness of Buck. Hail Buck! Hail the Bakersfield sound he made popular!
I have a feeling this won't be the last we see of his Buckness this month. Buck on Buckaroos!

This is, I think, the best series of videos I've ever seen on anyone's blog. And that includes porn.
I was more of a Roy Clark gal myself.
Nice; that's just a great song. I hope you post "Satan's Got to Get Along Without Me," too.
Did Roy Clark sing "Yesterday When I Was Young"? I like that song. It's cheesy, but I like it.
I think it is time to bring back Hee-Haw. That show was immensely popular throughout the south when I was a kid. Corn-ball humor for sure, but I bet it was cheap to make and the music was good. Why wouldn't it work today? Nashville - are you listening? Hee hee hee haw haw!
"I'm a picking"
"And I'm a grinning"
Burned into my consciousness from watching Buck & Roy on Hee Haw. But still I didn't hold that against Buck and love my greatest hits collection of his.
Disturbingly Hee Haw is on DVD but in what appears to be one episode per disc singles. Very strange.
Maybe I'll netflix a couple, but don't tell anyone...
SAL-UTE!
Watched HeeHaw every Saturday, along with Lawrence Welk. Maybe that's why my musical tastes are so fucked up.
Roy Clark did indeed sing a version of "Yesterday when I was young," Samfrog.
I liked Buck, but I always thought Roy was a better picker. He could really fly on that fretboard.
hey, cool post.
of course, it happened to correspond with several "free country music ring tones" spams i just got. i wonder if they've got Buck. it'd be cool to listen to Buck while i'm poppin those Celebrex, Viagra, Zoloft, Effexor, Cialis, and did i mention Celebrex already, pills while i'm playing poker at any of various online casinos!
Bubs-That is high praise indeed. Thanks.
MnMom-Vive la difference!
Samurai-I'm not sure which other Bucking clasic I'll play but I know I'll get another one on here before the month is out.
Saltchunk-Never expect Nashville to do the right thing.
MWB-Oh yeah, Hee Haw is burned into my brain as well.
Dguzman-In our house it was either Hee Haw or Lawrence Welk, I always chose Hee Haw.
Commander-You lead a full ife I see.
A little Buck Owens and Don Rich in your day, and you can't go wrong.
Buck is great, and is under-appreciated. He's well-loved in my town though, where you can hear "real" country music any night of the week.
