If Shakespeare wrote it, it must be right, right?

William Shakespeare

This above all: to thine own Dr. Monkey be true.

Which work of Shakespeare was the original quote from?

Oh, and here's my quote.
"He jests at scars that never felt a patricia."

I pity the man who jests at scars that never felt a me.

I know the answer because I saw it on Gilligan's Island. (sung to the melody of the Toreador Song, no less. High Culture!)

Ah, Jess--hey, at least you remember that! I know the answer because that whole speech is one of the funniest examples of selfish assholery I've ever read. And so many people quote that "to thine own self be true" line, without knowing that the whole speech was intended to show what a selfish bastard the character was.

"To be, or not to be: that is the FranIam."

Can I get back to you on that?
