If you want...

...you can go read what Rev. John Shuck had to say at our anti war march and rally this past Staurday here. The batteries in my camera ran down before I could get a good photo of John speaking. If you look at the above picture, that's him on the far right, sorry to have put you on the far right John, please forgive me, dressed in blue with his arm up. I have no idea what he was doing with his arm up maybe you can ask him in the comments page on his blog. Go on, ask, he won't bite, he's not that kind of Christian.

Thanks again John for helping out and for speaking at the rally and for all the other times you raise your voice for justice and peace.

To me, those "kinds of Christians" are the real deal. They help the poor, fight against war and injustice. They are not against a guy who likes guys or a woman who likes women; they don't support war 'cause it fits their plans for armageddon...etc etc.

Well there are a lot more of us (progressive Christians) than you might think.

Typically too busy not drawing attention to ourselves (I know Dr. Monkey, I missed that part of the lesson...)and working for peace and social justice.

Anyway, whatever path people follow I long for this and this alone...

That we can all follow it with the beliefs of our own choosing including no belief at all, in peace.

Thanks Doc!

What am I doing? Parting the seas? No, I stepped out of line to get a view of the length of our line! It was awesome. I was waving at passersby in that photo.

I find it interesting that in this area that Christianity is often so divorced from social justice.

BTW, I hardly ever wear a clergy collar. I wore it this day for a reason, even though I am sure the sight of it sent some folks who have been burned by religion into trauma.

I have no desire to promote Christianity. I wore it so that folks might see that there are folks who are involved in organized religion that also care about social justice and peace.

It is odd that that is such a radical notion, as the founder was all about it.

Thanks again!

John -

You are awesome. Thanks for wearing the collar. But more than anything, thanks for representing the rebel Jesus.

Maybe many Christian churches are afraid of speaking out.

micgar and Fran-I know there are good Christians out there. They need to speak up to counter the bad ones.

John-Mystery solved! Thanks again for being there.

Snad-Love the new avatar. Who took that great photo? Me? The dickens you say.

UberMILF-It's scary isn't it? How they try to silence everyone who disagrees with them. I never saw the IRS investigate Falwell or Pat Robertson.

Here is my solution to the IRS probe. Require churches to pay taxes! Churches are more like businesses now and think of the revenue for state, local and federal governments.

Then you can say what you want with no threat.

JOhn-That's not a bad idea.
