...is not that it's not funny, it is. In fact it's one of the funniest shows on TV.
The problem is not with the host. We love Stephen. And we've loved him since his days on the Daily Show. We also love him in his other film and TV roles.
The problem we have with the Colbert Report is that too many people take the show seriously. Surely anyone with any sense knows that Stephen is making fun of and mocking the right wing politicians, pundits, and talking heads. Surely people would know that by pretending to be one of the idiotic right wing types he is skewering them. Honestly, one would have to be a complete moron not to get it.
And yet some people do not. They think Stephen's character on the Colbert Report speaks the truth and is "right" on the issues. These would be the same people who thought the character of Archie Bunker was a good role model.
But surely all the right Republican politicians, pundits, and talking heads would be smart enough to know not to go on his show so that they can be made fun of, right? No one would walk in to that lion's den and not expect to be bitten, right? No right wing nut bag would be that dumb, would they?
Well, it looks like one of them is that dumb. Look who was on the Colbert Report last night:
In case you missed it, and we fully understand that not everyone stays up until 2 and 3 in the morning like we do, you can see it over at The Largest Minority. Our friend Manila Ryce thoughtfully posted the carnage for everyone to see. Trust us, it's well worth watching.

Colbert separates the men from the boys and the brains from the dumbasses!
You got that right peacechick.
You got that right peacechick.
It was hard to watch because DeLay was trying sooooo hard to connect with Colbert.
Two french guys. Yeah. Right.
Well said, my good Dr.!
I watched it. Afterwards, I asked my husband - "do you think he realizes he was just ripped to shreds?" He replied, "well, his idiotic smile says no."
