I'll wear it proudly...

It made our simian hearts swell with pride that a million Turks took to the streets Sunday to demand that their government stay secular. They demanded that the reigning political party steer away from their projected pro-Islamist path.

The good Dr. Von Monkerstein will tell you this boys and girls, he has loved the Turks, with the exception of that whole denying they committed genocide against the Armenians in the early part of the 20th century, since Kemal Ataturk dragged their Istanbul Not Constantinople asses into the the real world sometime around that whole unfortunate genocide thingy. Shit, that's two references to the Armenian genocide. If we make another reference to the Armenian genocide by the Turks then we can kiss that sweet vacation with Orhan Pamuk to Ankara goodbye. And we were soooo looking forward to seeing Orhan's "Nobel Prize" in his Speedo's, ah well c'est la vie.

Anyway, as we were saying, we just love us some Turks who know just what the hell to do when it looks like religious nut bags are going to attempt a coup. Unlike our leaders in the USA, we has us some fancy book learnin' and we know that if the religious nut bag turkeys in power in Turkey turn a deaf ear to my peeps in the streets, then the Turkish military will step in and force the Islamist nut bags from power, make sure a secular government takes back over, and then the lads with guns will step back and wait until the Allah Squad tries another coup.

Ah yes, despite the fact that you committed a heinous crime against humanity, despite the fact that one can't get a decent drink in Instanbul or Ankara, and despite the fact that if we went there on holiday they chain us to a post and make us dance like the monkeys we are, we loves us some secular modern Turkey.

And that's why we wear our fez with a tad more pride today.

Nice touch with the fez! Regarding the "Istanbul Not Constantinople" video - This is the animator's (Sally Cruikshank) website. Fun stuff!

According to You Tube, that was the original video. Glad you liked it.

What?

Sally Cruikshank did the animation for the original video. She also did the credits for the film Ruthless People.
