A movie you used to love but now hate.
I used to love war movies when I was a kid and I used to love this one. I'd watch it every time it came on TV and I get so worked up about those dirty Commies in Vietnam that I'd be in a propaganda lather by the time it was over. Then the war dragged on forever and it was apparent that we'd been lied to by LBJ, Nixon, Ford, and especially by that war criminal Henry Kissinger. And I grew to hate this movie. I also hate John Wayne in this movie. I'll go so far as to say I hate him in everything but True Grit and The Shootist. Let's face it, he was awful He was more wooden that a forest of giant redwoods.
I still like some war movies, the ones that show us that war is stupid, futile, and hell. I don't care for the ones that glorify war or mass killing.
