Canadian of the year
Bronze medalist in Ladies Figure Skating
Joannie Rochette is Canadian of the year up to this point.
After losing her mother to a massive heart attack on Sunday she went out and skated the lights out on Tuesday and almost skated flawlessly last night. She skated her way to the bronze medal and she skated her way into our hearts here at Monkey Central.
Well done Joannie, well done indeed.

The parade of Canadian cuteness continues!
Congratulations to Maelle Ricker for being one of the cutest Canadian women ever and also for bringing home the gold medal in women's snowboard cross!
You kicked ass with class Miss Ricker. And the fact that you won gold in your home country must be pretty sweet especially when you consider that you got knocked out cold in the same event back in 2006 in Torino.

There's no swag like Canadian swag (part 2)
My friend, the incredibly fit, beautiful, and intelligent Deepti sent me this hand made postcard!
The monkey and the bananas are hand drawn and glued to the card. How freakin' cool is that?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love Toronto women! (Especially Deepti and her super cute sisters!)

There's no swag like Canadian swag
Barb the Bad Tempered Zombie sent me a CD recently. It's made up of cuts from bands that recently played the Calgary Folk Festival. How cool is that? And she also sent me a nice note on this card in the packet as well, here's the card:
And K-Line, the most stylin' chick Toronto has ever seen, sent me a paperback book recently and she sent a nice note on this card
in her package.
Thank you's to both of these lovely ladies from north of the border. You both are too kind to me, your humble blog servant.
Believe what they say people, Canadians are indeed super nice.

This week in swag
I've gotten some pretty neat swag in the past few weeks.
My friend Deepti, the fittest chick in the western hemisphere, sent me this postcard from her sojourn to the Galapagos:
It's my first postcard from a South American country! And it's from the island chain that has played a huge part in our understanding of evolution. Yay Darwin! Yay Galapagos Islands! Yay Deepti!
As cool as that postcard is, here's something that is even rarer, it's swag from a member of my extended family:

It's a lap quilt my Aunt Gail in Michigan made for us. It's a very beautiful quilt and Gail is a true fiber artist. She also sent us a Christmas hanging thingy that we love but we only display it during the holidays, so this new quilt she made for us is pretty keen because we can use/display it year around. Thanks again for the great quilt Gail!
And thank all of you folks who have sent me swag in the past, you all rock!

Who's holding our Crunky now?
Not Tanya Espanya, that's for sure. She's not holding it because she's too busy getting smashed, look at that size of that drink would you, it's huge!

She showed me hers so now I have to show her mine
My girl K-Line tagged me with a request to see my blog station. She knows I can refuse most brunettes nothing so here it is:

Now let's pull back so you can see the art I have around my computer:

As you can see we still have not replaced that crime against nature that is hanging over the window but it is not long for this world, I assure you of that.
Now, the rest of you, don't be shy, show us yours!
