I was born in 1962 in Detroit, MI. I was lucky enough to hit the genetic lottery, I was born white and male. I can remember bits of the race riots that hit my hometown in 1967. I remember when MLK got shot. I remember hoping it would get better for black folks. Tonight's decision not to indict the cop who murdered Mike Brown shows me nothing is ever going to change in the USA. Cops will kill at will, many white people will blame black folks for the misery brought on by the inherent racism in our political and economic system, and the rich will get richer by pitting working people of different colors against each other.
I'm discouraged. I'm downhearted. I hoped we were better than this as a country. It's clear we're not.
