Art this cool was wasted on the young

The entire 1970 kid's book Torchy by Bernard Waber is now showing over on my retro/vintage blog.
The paintings that were done for this book are the epitome of late '60's and early '70's kick ass art. Check it out with your young children if you have any.

The owl makes me want to get out my tempera paints and construction paper. I have some arts/crafts books from the early seventies that are just amazingly cool.

I like, and I don't think it was wasted. It probably inspired some, I hope! :)

I LOVE Torchy! I either had this book as a kid, or dominated it at the library. Too long ago to remember clearly, but just looking at the photos gives me a huge shock. I am going to go digging around to see if I can find a copy to purchase for the spawn of SFL. Do you remember a book about a she-squirrel who lived in a dollhouse in an attic and was "wife" to a bunch of toy soldiers? Suzy the Squirrel, maybe?...
