Call me Dr. Smug

We bought this lawn mower today:
It uses zero gas, zero oil, and it emits zero noxious gasses and noxious noises. And upkeep on the little jewel is the cost of a sharpening file. I'm doing my part to not contribute to climate change, are you?

(And no, before you ask, that is not our house.)

  1. Oooh, I can one up you - if you want to look at it that way: My husband garbage picked our push mower - enviro-friendly and freegan! :-) (PS I don't exactly advertise this most of the time.)

  4. "emits zero noxious gasses and noxious noises"

Well....that presumes you didn't have chili last night.

  5. Also, you'll get all svelte and muscle-y from the exercise.

  6. Wish I could push one up our hills. But we do have a quiet little electric mower with a rechargeable battery. Made in Vermont. Very nice, and we can compost the grass clippings with the catcher.

But good for you. I sure don't miss the loud, smelly mower I used to have.

  7. That the same kind of lawn mower we have - except we have very little lawn left. We pulled most of it out and put in weeds (I mean wildflowers), gravel and mulch.

  8. I'd still be using one (or a battery-powered one) if I didn't have an acre to mow! Plus, the damn Zoysia grass they planted in the lower yard would never submit to a reel mower - that stuff'll cut your feet if it's dry!

Kudos, Monkey. (The chili just gets the credit for an assist.)

  9. I feel guilty that I bring in a three-man crew, all armed with gas guzzlers to buzz my lawn.
But I don't use a lot of water and I recycle, so that cancels it out a bit.
Cute hand mower, Monkey. Just don't get your tail caught in the blades. Ouchie.

  10. You're definitely gonna get the workout of your life with that thing. Mow often, or it'll be impossible!

  11. It's actually easier to mow the small lawn we have with this mower than with a gas powered one. This one weighs less and it's easier to move about.

  12. Hmmm.

That would also keep you healthy.

I need a push tractor for my place, however.

Maybe an ox and a plow?

  13. Believe it or not, my mom still uses one of these for one of the small patches of grass in the backyard. My dad, though, still has all the man gear for the rest of the lawn.

  14. Good going, now if all you folks really want to lesson your carbon footprint then you should all consider becoming vegetarians. You'll also lesson cruelty to innocent animals in a huge way.
