Dear Mexico,

If this idiot comes to your country, keep him until we call for him to come home.

Sincerely,
The USA

Rest in peace Gene

Sad to hear the guy who helped make my childhood a little more bearable has passed away.

We were broke ass poor when I was a kid and we didn't go to movies, we could barely afford to pay the electricity bill to keep our black and white TV on.  But I remember going to see Wilder in Willy Wonka on a school field trip.  It was awesome and I love that film to this day.  His turns in all those Mel Brooks movies and the ones with Richard Pryor, such great comedies.

Thanks for all the memories sir.

1950's college girls with glasses tell what they like best about Trump

"I like how bold and unconventional he is.  Who else but Trump would give a speech aimed at increasing the African American vote in a town that's 95% white?  And who else but Trump would slam President Obama, our first black president, in that same speech? Boom."

"I like how he's hired so many mentally ill people to be his surrogates on the cable news channels.  Some of those people who work for him are down right delusional."

"My favorite thing about him is how he never takes the blame for any of his mistakes.  I'm sure that will be an asset if he gets into the White House.  What could go wrong?"

"I like his commitment to forcing Muslims to face a religious test in order to come into our country.  Maybe he will also order them to wear a religious based symbol on their clothes all the time and maybe he'll concentrate them in camps or something too."

"The thing I like best about him is that he's never tried to hit on me.  Because let's face it, he's pretty disgusting."

"I like how anti immigrant he unless he gets to fuck them and get them pregnant."

"I like the fact he's not my creepy cousin John who keeps trying to have sex with me."

"I like his business acumen best.  I like how he's managed to not let his failures in the casino business keep him from failing at other businesses."

"I like how many different sides of Putin's dick and balls he's on.  And also, I'm a fag hag, so it's okay for me to say things like that."

Comic book review

When I was a lad I loved superhero comic books.  Then I grew out of them as I got older.  And around the time I grew out of my like for the superhero genre, I began getting into comics based on true life.  I grew to especially like comics based on lives that I could strongly identify with and Bread & Butter by Liz Mayorga (Rosarium Publishing) is a comic book I strongly identify with.

No, I don't live in San Francisco and no I have no plans to go live there, but I did visit there briefly when I went to see my late brother before he passed away.  No, I'm not a Hispanic female, nor do I aspire to be one.  But I have been a working stiff who has spent time working in restaurant kitchens and waiting tables. Ms. Mayorga knows this world intimately and she gets it down in comic book form with out one false note.  It's all very real and to me it's very interesting, way more interesting than some hopped up muscle bound freak who likes to wear underwear on the outside of his/her cheesy costume.

This issue begins the story of a SF cafe worker who is longing for more out of life.  It's full of wonderful realistic art that catches the reality of working life perfectly  and it's accompanied by spare well written dialogue.  But the great thing about this title is that if the words were gone, you'd still understand the story based on the art alone.  Ms. Mayorga's art reminds me of the underground cartoonists of the late 1960's/mid 1970's.  Her framing is spot on and the layouts work, I especially love her panels in the first few pages that set the scene, they give you a real sense of place.

All in all this is a really great slice of life title.  I look forward to seeing more of this title and more of Ms. Mayorga's work in general. Give this one a chance and I think you'll be hooked too.

It's all about the violence with the modern right wing

No I don't buy into any of that Christian nonsense about the Antichrist, but I do know that Trump just called on gun owners who disagree with HIllary to shoot her if she picks a SCOTUS justice they disagree with.

Welcome to Third World America where political candidates tell their supporters to murder their opponents.

Garden bounty

Purple and green tomatillos.

Tomatoes.

Cukes and a beet.

A shit ton of garlic.

Tomatoes ripening.

We're also still enjoying loads of fresh basil, squash, figs, scallions, and potatoes. Garden 2016 has been a roaring success, all thanks to Sparky and her diligent planning and planting.
