R I P Evel

One of the all time great pop culture icons has passed away. In most every interview of him I read in the past few years he came across as a real asshole but I guess all those years of daredevil stunts will do that to a guy. Rest in peace dude.

  1. He made my husband want to be a stunt man. He made it all look so easy.

I am glad my husband is NOT a stunt man!

  2. God, I didn't even know he was still alive! Remember the Snake River Canyon jump, Monkey? I watched it on TV, and I remember thinking it was kinda lame how he used a rocket-powered bike. But I did watch almost everything he did on TV. He was one of a kind.

  3. I missed this. Was this just today. He was from my hometown, Butte, MT. Trivia: My brother's 1951 Plymouth was in the movie about Evel that was filmed in Butte in the early 70s. It is a classic starring george hamilton as evel.

  4. Yup, an icon for the generation that grew up in the sixties and seventies.

I missed this in the news too. Guess I was too busy mourning Henry Hyde.

The dirt nap? I've never heard that one before. Funny.

  5. Funny, I was just thinking about Evel the other day... and now he's dead. Just goes to show you how dangerous it is to think

  6. I would like to say that Urban Pedestrian has the coolest avatar that I have ever seen.

  7. I heard that Kanye West just settled (like 2 days ago) with him over a dispute from a video he made using Evel's likeness.

funny that, I wonder if he's kicking himself for not waiting just a few more days.

I know, I'm a horrible person, but it's what came to mind **puts on flameproof suit**

  8. Missy-Don't kill your husband's dreams. He might be the best stunt man in MN. Wait, how many films do they shoot in MN?

Dguz-I know what you mean. The barell jumpers, the cliff divers, and Evel were the only reasons to watch Wide World of Sports on ABC.

John-I remember seeing that film and thinking, "Man this movie sucks ass except for the 51 Plymouth."

Suzy-So you're the one who got tagged to mourn Henry Hyde's passing. Me, I still wish he had been horsewhipped during that debacle like Alec Baldwin suggested.

Urban-Do me a favor, stop thinking about me anyway! :)

Jess-Don't get me started on how much I love those pink boots. They were made for more than walking baby, grrr.

    Devilham-I thought the same thing.

  9. Gosh, who doesn't remember that Snake River Jump? I hope his send off is as awesome as his stuntwork.

  10. I watched his stunts, but never really cared for his opinions. Later on, I liked SuperDave Osborne, who I guess was kinda like a parody of Evel.
